MESSAGE FROM STEVE AOKI
Here is a little note to all of you from Steve on the Road…. Me and mark are at the airport in Taipei heading home from our spring break tour. Malaysia/Zouk was one of the best shows of the year and its only March… 1500 kids going ape shit, can’t wait to get back to them… Our yard sale in Malaysia was a hit. We sold out of EVERY THING, all the new dim mak hoodies we brought, all the new dim mak sample tees and some old rare gems and all the cobrasnake tees… even the shirts off our backs. Next time we’re bringing a lot more. Check thecobrasnake.com for the pics…

..

It was Steve Aoki. We couldn’t have been more ready. Aside from being the Big Boss of Dim Mak, he’s every concert/party organiser’s favourite DJ. You want him at your party.

With Mark the Cobrasnake on their Spring Break Tour, Steve Aoki hit Zouk KL last weekend and dropped some tight numbers - some obvious hits plus plenty of crazy surprises, all tastily mashed up in true-blue Steve Aoki way - all the while chugging down a bottle of vodka. We counted 3 bottles. And like the true rock star he is, he spread love by jumping over the console, evidently nearer to the screaming fans and stage-dived a few times, completely breaking the conservative rules of the superclub. The only thing he didn’t do was to go shirtless like’s bound to do. He did lift up his shirt above his head though. But what’s so awesome is that it never ever seems exaggerated.

Here’s a little known fact: Steve Aoki had once-upon-a-time been a frontman for a post-hardcore band, This Machine Kills (the band is/was under his music powerhouse, Dim Mak), in the early days. So unlike any other DJs, he IS a rocker… It’s a state of mind you can’t pretend to own if you don’t.

He bestowed upon us insanity, brilliance and his energy bursting forth through his music and his huge presence. Zouk will NEVER be the same again!

In his message, Steve Aoki said he can’t wait to come back.. Let’s hope he’ll bring The Bloody Beetroots with him too!

The packed dancefloor at midnight, with Blink opening

The mania begins…
