Not A DJ pres. Dirt Box Disco

April 24th, 2008  |  Published in Not A DJ

…

The first NOT A DJ tape debuts with Dirt Box Disco – so named because it comprises tracks that I feel are so meant to get your soles dirty and busted, and is first of all inspired by Dave Clarke’s Dirtbox.

The original Dirtbox appeared on Dave Clarke’s genre-bending Devil’s Advocate and the track on its own already has a powerful, filthy bassline. DJ Hell turned out a dark electro remix of Dirtbox so kickin’ I can’t bear not to play it, so you’ll hear that in the intro. There’s breaks, house and indie dance tracks in the playlist. And oh yes Guns N Bombs filthy remix of indie cult icons The Teenager’s Homecoming! So in love with that song.

Dirt Box Disco was recorded last week on a whim and ‘This Person’ encouraged it to be shared on Halfway Street. So here is. It’s not perfect because things just took its course and but admittedly, who cares, I’m so not a DJ, heh. Just lovin the tracks. I didn’t log the tracklist either; will be better prepared next time.

Download Dirt Box Disco.

NOT A DJ is a mixtape series on Halfway Street, designed to expose new and old music, good music generally, that we like so much we want to play it for you our way. “NOT A DJ” is so named because it is not to be confused with a DJ mix, that’s all. Hope you’ll enjoy this and future mixtapes.
